Earlier this week USA Rugby released the selections for the 2018 Men's Collegiate All-American Sevens teams, within the selected teams there were a total of 31 D1A athletes selected.
Life University began its rugby program in 1980 when a group of ex-pats at what was then known as Life Chiropractic College started up a rugby club. This original team still exists and has been playing at the highest level of rugby – from Division 1 to Elite Cup, to Rugby Super League. The Life U Men’s Club team is the two-time defending USA Rugby Division 1 national champions.
The Life U undergraduate team began in 2010 and played its first competitive season in the spring of 2011, where they reached the national quarterfinals. In 2012, they reached the semifinals, and in 2013 won the D1A National Championship. In 2014, Life U again reached the D1A National Championship game before losing to St. Mary’s.
With a top-tier coaching staff and dedicated rugby facilities, Life U has established itself as one of the premier programs in D1A. In 2015, Life U will also have a women’s rugby team that will play in USA Rugby Women’s Division 1.
