In the final rankings of the regular season, there have been some seismic shifts in the rankings that all add up for a frantic finish to the season.

The Top 10  remains relatively static, the only shift this week was Army and Penn State swapping places. Penn State, once again, was able to squeak past Army as time expired and win the contest, and reclaim their position over the Black Knights in the rankings.

In the middle of the rankings Arkansas State reclaimed 11th, as the defeated Indiana handedly over the weekend. Indiana’s free fall in the rankings continues in the lead up to the playoffs. Prior to their last two games they had been ranked 6th in the country, however, two losses back to back have seen the Hoosiers fall to 13th. Grand Canyon has moved back up to 12th, the position they held prior to last week’s slight dip.

Where the real drama comes into the equation is in the 14th, 15th and 16th rankings. As it currently stands, being ranked 14th means that team is the last team into the playoffs: San Diego State holds that position. Their opposition for the weekend is #16 Cal Poly. The winner of this game, presumably, will make the playoffs. However, #15 Central Washington will also be in action against #4 BYU. If Central Washington can pull off the upset or push the Cougars to the edge this weekend it will make for a nervous wait for all the teams on the bubble.
