Saint Bonaventure University, a member of Rugby East, this week announced that fifteen of their players have been selected into the Dean’s List for academic excellence. In a year that saw them win games against Wheeling Jesuit and Buffalo, it’s good to see that the players were applying themselves diligently in the classroom too.

Head Coach, Andrew Tui Osborne was quick to thank the university for their support. “As a program, our goal is to provide the best environment for the student-athlete in class as well as on the pitch. We’ve had a lot of support from the university in providing us with the tools to succeed. It’s a rewarding feeling for all coaches and staff, especially with a full rugby schedule. We are very proud of the hard work this group has put in and hope to build on this for semesters to come.”

From the list of players on the dean’s list, the most notable inclusion must be Eamonn Matthews, the Junior Scrum-Half. Matthews did not only excel in the classroom but he was also a force to be reckoned with on the field. Matthews was selected into the All-Conference 2nd XV and was only kept out of the top spot, by Penn State’s Jim Ronan who was an All-American Honorable Mention last year.

Congratulations to all the athletes who were selected to the Dean’s List last semester. Here is the full list of honorees:
