FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State Rams will play host to their bitter in-state rival CU Buffaloes Saturday at 1 p.m. MT. The team that wins claims the West Conference title and the #1 playoff seed out of the conference.
Both are undefeated in conference play, setting up a dramatic and exciting final to cap of the regular season.
The Buffs and the Rams are on the upswing, with a number of their players catching the eye of All-American and Junior All-American selectors.
Fullback Ben Pinkelman is one of the Rams to watch. He was electrifying against Wyoming earlier in the week and will have to play at the top of his game to get past the Buffs.
For CU, All-American center Brendan Cox, who was one of the leading try-scorers in the league last season, will be a constant threat to the Rams’ defense.
The coaches won’t have to do much to get their teams fired up for this one. Every one of their players knows what it means to play in the Rocky Mountain Showdown, but with a conference title and a #1 playoff seed on the line, it’s going to mean that much more.
