BOULDER, Colo. – Wheeling Jesuit flanker Peter Malcolm’s two-try performance against West Virginia was good enough to earn the junior D1A Player of the Week honors.
In a match that meant more to Wheeling Jesuit than just picking up a non-conference win after losing to West Virginia last spring, the AIG Men’s Junior All-American made a much-needed impact and helped lead the Cardinals to a 24-5 win. Not only did Malcolm find the try zone twice, but he did so by barreling through several West Virginia defenders on his way to 10 points.
Malcolm, a native of Parkland, Fla., can play both hooker and back-row, but his tenacious running style might lead Head Coach Eric Jerpe to play his star player as a loose forward.
This week Wheeling Jesuit opens Rugby East play when the Cardinals host Iona College.
