BOULDER, Colo. – Since the team’s season-opening victory over Indiana University, Lindenwood has quietly been on a three-match winning streak versus top-notch senior club sides. Their most recent win came this past Saturday against the Glendale Raptors.
The 24-15 result in favor of Lindenwood would not have gone the Lions’ way if not for the play of AIG Men’s Collegiate All-American Mikey Gierlach. The Lindenwood captain has played a massive role in the Lions’ 4-0 start, but was especially impressive last Saturday. Gierlach, a long and athletic lock, made defensive stops all over the park and scored a first-half try against a formidable Glendale side.
“Mikey has been instrumental in our team successes, from his lead from the front, his approach off the field, to his ability to give his all on the field,” explained Lindenwood Head Coach JD Stephenson. “He’s been a great leader and mentor to our younger players. We’re excited to see him continue to develop as a player and leader.”
Gierlach, who hails from Colorado Springs, Colo., and studies Chemistry, will be counted on heavily once again this weekend when Lindenwood faces off against Life University’s Elite Training Group.
