Week 8 of the spring season is upon us and it is loaded with plenty of conference clashes. The California, Mid-South, PAC, and Red River conferences all continue their regular season schedules.

PAC Conference play resumes with #3 Cal taking on USC. USC is still searching for their first win of the season, while Cal has been on a tear this season and recently cooled down the red hot #9 Arizona Wild Cats. Cal will be looking to keep the ball rolling this weekend as they continue to look ahead to playoffs.

Elsewhere in the PAC #18 Utah will play host to UCLA. Utah will be hoping to rebound after disappointing displays against Grand Canyon and Arizona; while, UCLA will be looking to go one step further than they did last week and complete the upset (UCLA was a missed sideline conversion away from toppling San Diego State).

Down south in the Grand Canyon state, the inter-state rivalry between Arizona and Arizona State writes itself another chapter, this weekend. Arizona has had an impressive season thus far and until last weekend they had been unbeaten. Arizona State, on the other hand has had a see-sawing season never being able to build sustained momentum.

#4 BYU faces in state rival Utah Valley this weekend. BYU is coming off a disappointing loss to #1 Saint Mary’s last weekend in the first leg of their series. They will be working towards preparing themselves for the second leg in a month’s time. Utah Valley will provide them with quality preparation.

In the California Conference, #13 San Diego State will face off against UC Santa Barbara. SDSU is coming off a disappointing finish to their last game, where they let UCLA score in stoppage time to equalize the game. UC Santa Barbra is still on the prowl for their first win of the season.

#19 UC Davis will take on Santa Clara in the other California Conference of the weekend. This is UC Davis’ first game since they fell to San Diego State. They will be looking to recapture the winning form that landed them in the Top 20 in their first season in D1A. Santa Clara is coming into the contest after securing their first win of the season last round against UCSB.

In the Mid-South, #2 Life comes up against Davenport. Life has been in scintillating form this year, and have no plans to slow down. They were impressive in a hard-fought victory last weekend over #5 Lindenwood. Davenport is playing their first conference game of the Spring after splitting their two fall matches, beating Clemson, but falling to #10 Arkansas State.

The other Mid-South game of the weekend features #5 Lindenwood and Clemson. Both teams will be coming into the game with a chip on their shoulders, after narrowly missing out on a victory last week, against teams ranked higher than them.

Red River continues this week, and after last week’s results the title is still right there for the taking. This weekend features two matches that feature teams with title dreams. The first match features Baylor playing host to Arkansas. Baylor is coming off their first loss of the season. Arkansas on the other side of the coin is coming into the weekend after winning their first game in 2018. Baylor won their last encounter 44-21 and will be looking to make a mends for last week.

Texas A&M will host Houston in the other Red River Conference game. The Aggies, similarly to Baylor, lost their first match of the season last weekend to LSU. The Aggies will be sure to come out firing this weekend and ensure that it was a one week affair and not a trend for how the rest of their season will play out. Houston on the other hand is still on the prowl for their first win of the season.
