LAFAYETTE, Colo. – Arkansas earned its best win of the season last week when it beat Oklahoma, 37-31. The return of fly half Jack Casey allowed standout half back Alex Rees return to his preferred position of scrum half. The duo combined for 27 points in Casey’s return, but the most influential player for the Razorbacks was D1A Rugby Player of the Week Coby Graves.
Graves, a flanker, scored his third try of the season in the sixth minute to give Arkansas an early lead it wouldn’t relinquish.
“He is an outstanding support line runner on attack and his try in the corner after a backline break demonstrated his determination to be the first to the ball,” said Arkansas Head Coach Warren Fyfe.
Not only dangerous in attack, Graves is an absolute menace on defense, as well.
“He is a ball poacher in the mold of David Pocock,” Fyfe described. “He is tough as nails and tackles everything that moves. His energy and toughness drives us on defense and in the end it was improvement on the defensive side of the ball that set up the win.”
Next up for Graves and the Razorbacks is a Red River North Division fixture against Texas Tech.
