LAFAYETTE, Colo. – Third-ranked BYU is officially back on track after dropping games to the Glendale Raptors and No. 2 Saint Mary’s College early in its 2017 campaign. Since those losses, the Cougars have won four consecutive games in impressive fashion, including a season evening win at home against the Gaels. Most recently, BYU traveled to the Pacific Northwest where it was led by D1A Player of the Week Calvin Whiting on the team’s way to a 46-24 win over Central Washington University.
“Calvin had a good all-around performance and was stout on defense on the day,” complimented BYU Head Coach David Smyth. “He also kicked 16 points and helped us earn the win with his boot.”
It’s not surprising the center from Johannesburg was in good form against the Wildcats. During his recent stint with the Eagles, Whiting made valuable impacts off the bench in the team’s dominant win over Chile and the competition-winning draw versus Argentina XV.
Next up for BYU is a March 25 visit from the Glendale Raptors, before Central Washington will seek revenge against the Cougars March 31 in Provo, UT.
