BOULDER, Colo. – Wheeling Jesuit’s first 15s match of 2015 saw the Cardinals earn their most impressive win of the season after picking off Navy, 25-19. The match was also a breakout game for sophomore Inosi Kau, who is the D1A Player of the Week.
The Fijian-born inside center may have had his best overall performance in black in red this past Saturday, scoring two tries against the Midshipmen.
“He seemed like he had something to prove in that game,” Wheeling Jesuit Head Coach Eric Jerpe said. “He was very intense, very focused, and ready to play.”
After spending a year in junior college, the 2014-15 season has been Kau’s first at Jesuit, and his presence has made an immediate impact on the Cardinals.
“His physicality on both defense and offense, combined with his support play and work ethic, makes his teammates better players,” added Assistant Coach Tal Bayer.
Kau, a Political Science major, has not only impressed his coaches and teammates with his physical play on the pitch, but also his genuine personality off it.
“He’s incredible both on and off the field,” Jerpe said. “You’ll never meet a nicer guy.”
March 7 brings another stiff test for the No. 12-ranked Cardinals as they face Atlantic Coast Rugby League Champion Clemson.
