BOULDER, Colo. – Outside of Ohio State and Wisconsin, who were playing for a Conference Championship, no team seemed more motivated to pick up a win at last week’s Big Ten Universities Rugby Championship than Iowa.
The Hawkeyes earned the victory they desperately sought in a 36-31 outcome against Michigan. The five-point win was due in large part to hard-charging outside center David Ryberg. The senior from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, saved his best performance of the season for the last match with a hat trick against the Wolverines.
The win over No. 18 Michigan was massive for the Hawkeyes program, placing Iowa third in the final BTU standings and marched the Hawkeyes to No. 19 in the Canterbury D1A Top 20.
