LAFAYETTE, Colo. – USA Rugby recently announced the selections for the 2016-17 Men’s Collegiate All-Americans, and the list of 122 players includes 75 student-athletes representing 22 different D1A Rugby programs.

“The Collegiate All-America staff, working with coaches around the country, the Collegiate Director, and HP Manager, have identified this year’s Honorary List,” USA Rugby AIG Men’s Collegiate All-American Head Coach Gavin Hickie said. “Each year, the All-American Honorary List become tougher to select, due to the increased competition and standards set by our student athletes.”

The 15s All-Americas have been classed by 1st XV, 2nd XV and Honorable Mention. Only five players return as 1st XV selections from last year’s group of 1st XV standouts, and they all come from D1A Rugby: Harley Davidson (Life), Matthew Jensen (Brigham Young University), Cody Melphy (Life), and Russell Webb (University of California Berkeley). Additionally, 27 of the 30 players named to the All-American’s 1st and 2nd XV play D1A Rugby.

Honorees to the Sevens All-Americans, a group led by 2017 USA Rugby College 7s National Champions Lindenwood’s seven selections, includes 13 D1A student-athletes who received similar recognition in the 15s code: Dylan Audsley (Saint Mary’s College), Sam Cusano (Cal), Sione Fangaiuiha (Arkansas State), Nick Feakes (Lindenwood), Chad Gough (Utah), Vetekina Malafu (Kutztown), Cody Melphy (Life), Cristian Rodriguez (Lindenwood), Anthony Salaber (Cal), Tyler Sousley (Indiana), Duncan van Schalkwyk (Life), Russell Webb (Cal) and Zach Young (Arkansas State).
