Canterbury D1A Top 20: Week 11

D1A Rugby: Canterbury D1A Top 20: Week 11

LAFAYETTE, Colo. – Few teams carry the same ranking into the 11th week of the Canterbury D1A Top 20, but the top-to-bottom shuffle was less about results on the field. BYU’s realignment into D1A Rugby as an Independent sees the Cougars debut in the Top 20 at No. 4.

The addition of BYU into the Top 20 pushed most teams back one spot, while Kutztown jumped ahead one place in this week’s rankings to sit at No. 13. After suffering back-to-back defeats against Army and Penn State, the Golden Bears ended its Rugby East season by crushing Buffalo, 82-26.

The Cougars aren’t the only team new to this week’s Top 20. LSU earned its best win of the season when it took down Texas A&M, 36-26. After spending the majority of the fall semester just outside of the Top 20, the Tigers now bookend the Week 11 rankings at No. 20.

LSU’s improvement to 2-0 in the Red River Conference forces Cal Poly just outside of the published rankings at No. 21. Also ousted from the Top 20 is Ohio State. The Buckeyes fell hard to Indiana in the Big Ten Championship game, 72-19, and as a result drop from No. 18 to No. 22.
