Canterbury D1A Rugby Top 20: Week 14

D1A Rugby: Canterbury D1A Rugby Top 20: Week 14

LAFAYETTE, Colo. – There is a new No. 1-ranked team in D1A Rugby. Cal, which is coming off a dominant 92-12 win over Utah, takes the Canterbury ranking’s top spot for the first time this season. Previously ranked No. 1 Life University has been idle since the New Year, but returns to the pitch Feb. 18 at home against No. 10 Arkansas State.

The Golden Bears might have climbed the top of the Top 20 mountain, but Arizona is the only team to improve more than one spot in the 14th week of the Canterbury D1A Rugby rankings. The Wildcat’s top side beat Utah Valley University, while their JV team took the honors of winning a PAC Rugby Conference match against USC. The pair of wins swaps spots with a now-ranked 16th Utah and places Arizona at No. 14.

San Diego State lost to No. 3 BYU over the weekend, but still improves its place in the Top 20 by one spot. The Aztecs fought valiantly during their 50-14 defeat to one of the very best teams in the country.
