D1A Rugby: Air Force, Cal Poly rescheduled for April 23

LAFAYETTE, Colo. – The opening round D1A Playoff match between Air Force and Cal Poly, which was postponed last weekend due to a severe snow storm in Colorado, has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 23, and will be played at Saint Mary’s College.

After a mutual agreeable solution was not met between the two teams, a D1A ad hoc committee ruled that Air Force would advance to the Quarterfinals based on its higher ranking in the Canterbury D1A Top 20. An appeal was heard by a USA Rugby-appointed committee, and the decision to advance Air Force based on ranking was overruled.

The winner of Saturday’s contest will face No. 2 Saint Mary’s the following day in the Quarterfinals of the D1A Playoffs.

The AF Zoomies got a solid core of rough and ready juniors this year. This should be a great game.

too bad there couldn’t have been a better solution….Friday match…day of rest and Sunday match…On the surface it looks like whoever wins on Saturday, Saint Mary’s will have the greatest advantage…
