This weekend saw a lot of quality matchups, but not too many upsets. What dictated the rankings more than anything else throughout the weekend were the margins of defeat. This was certainly the case for the shuffle in the Top 10.

This week saw Army play a very close fixture to Cal. Army flew across the country to take on the 3rd ranked team. In what was one of the best games of the year, Army looked as if they were going to pull off the upset, when they were up 29-24. However, Cal proved that they were built of sterner stuff and scored three quick tries and seal a 50-41 victory. The quality of play shown was enough to bump Army up into 9th.

Arkansas State, who had just managed to move up in the rankings last week, were sent back down just as soon as they were sent up. They suffered a heavy loss at the hands of #2 Life, those voting on the rankings deemed that the 51-point margin of defeat was enough to send them out of the Top 10 and seed them at #11.

The other change in the rankings came courtesy of a big upset. #17 Colorado State lost to unranked Utah Valley. While, this wasn’t enough to send Utah Valley into the Top 20 it was certainly enough to make Colorado State slip. They fell one spot to #18 and Utah took over the #17 spot. Utah will now look to finish their season in an impressive fashion as they push for a spot in the Playoffs.
